Rachel Evans

Kia ora.

My name is Rachel Evans and I am a social work counsellor. My practice is located in New Brighton in a little arcade known as “The Barn”. I became a social worker in 2007 and began counselling in 2021 after further study in psychology and sociology, while living in Australia for a number of years. I have a social work background in family support and the disability field, and my counselling experience includes supporting teens at risk of homelessness, and child/family counselling.

I currently support clients facing challenges with their mental wellbeing, particularly trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, anger management, emotional regulation and family conflict. I support cultural diversity, neurodiversity and the rainbow community, and value providing a safe, inclusive, empathetic, open and calm space, with a focus on collaborative, respectful and non-judgemental support.

I am a member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers and a fully registered social worker with the Social Workers Registration Board.
